Snow poem 1 December 2010
Overnight snow falls, waking
us to a winter wonderland
of everything wrapped white
in crumbly, comfy-soft and
duvet thick blankets of snow
from snow flurries, windswept
and setting in depth as we slept
us to a winter wonderland
of everything wrapped white
in crumbly, comfy-soft and
duvet thick blankets of snow
from snow flurries, windswept
and setting in depth as we slept

Overnight, snow turns to ice
a walk is a bet, a threat, a dice -
taking a gamble -
a treacherous tumble
a slippery stumble
is on the cards from hard ice
and icy sharp shards
a walk is a bet, a threat, a dice -
taking a gamble -
a treacherous tumble
a slippery stumble
is on the cards from hard ice
and icy sharp shards

Overnight, ice turns to water
marinating, saturating,
muddy and mushy
marinating, saturating,
muddy and mushy
slushing and flushing
soggy and bogged, sodden
sopping, mopping
and everything waterlogged
soggy and bogged, sodden
sopping, mopping
and everything waterlogged
